Laura Pempkowski is excited to return as a dancer and choreographer for her second season with DanceWorks Boston! Laura is originally from the Philadelphia area and has been dancing since age four. By age twelve, Laura began competing regionally in hip-hop with Zero Gravity Dance Company and Edge Dance Company in Jenkintown, PA. Throughout middle and high school, Laura also performed musical theater in local productions of Bye Bye Birdie, Guys and Dolls, Footloose, and Anything Goes. As a volunteer, Laura helped to choreograph for a local school performance of High School Musical. While completing both undergraduate and graduate studies in Physical Therapy at Northeastern University, Laura continued to dance with Kinematix Dance Troupe, No Limits Dance Crew, and also choreographed hip-hop pieces for the Northeastern University Dance Company. Most recently, Laura collaborated with long time friend from Northeastern, Angela D’Ercole, to choreograph for Season 13 of DWB. Laura has her doctorate degree and works as a sports medicine physical therapist in Cambridge, MA. As a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine & Science, Laura specializes in treating dance and performing arts related injuries. Laura has presented research at the IADMS 2015 Annual Meeting, which is currently under review for publication. In addition to dance, Laura practices aerial arts and enjoys yoga and rock climbing.
