Kyra began dancing when she was five years old at Straub Dance Center in Westerville, Ohio, studying tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, and modern dance as a member of the studio’s competitive dance company. At The Ohio State University, Kyra minored in dance, creating tap dances for her classes and choreographing for campus events. Kyra’s studies also allowed her to expand her repertoire to include improvisation, composition, hip-hop, and eurhythmics. Following graduation, she moved to New York City for graduate school and continued to discover unique dance styles at Broadway Dance Center and Gibney Dance, including her favorite: Gaga.people. Kyra enjoys moving every day of the week in her role as a dance/movement therapist and is also working towards her certification as a yoga instructor. This is Kyra’s second season with DanceWorks Boston and her first as a choreographer, where she is so excited to share the beauty and vibrant energy of dance!
