Sophia Ferrera is a Massachusetts-based choreographer, dance instructor, and fitness coach. She began her 15 years of dance training at Dance Carousel in Scituate, Massachusetts, competing on the award-winning Ensemble Dance team for 7 years. During her time competing, she won the Young Choreographer Award at the American Dance Awards two years in a row, and received the Sparkle Award and Bette Campbell Tap Scholarship from the Greater Brockton Dance Teachers Association in 2017.

After high school, she attended NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering and matriculated summa cum laude with a degree in Integrated Design and Media Studies. Sophia discovered her passion for teaching at NYU, and instructed 400+ students during her time as the Head Teaching Assistant of NYU Tandon’s Innovation and Technology Forum.

Post-grad, Sophia reignited her love of dance and began choreographing and teaching for the competitive team at Zeal Performing Arts Studio on the South Shore. Sophia also teaches in the Community Education branch of the Boston Ballet School, working with 3rd grade students in the Greater Boston Area for the renowned Boston Ballet CityDance program. In addition to her love of dance, Sophia is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and fitness coach at OrangeTheory.

In her free time, Sophia loves drinking iced coffee, cooking meals for her friends, and doing the New York Times crossword. It is her second season dancing and choreographing with DanceWorks Boston, and she is so grateful to be feeling the #DWBLove!
