Sydney Gray
Sydney began dancing at the age of three in her hometown of Pittsford, NY. She continued her dance training at Pittsford Dance Studio studying contemporary, jazz, ballet, tap, and hip hop. She danced competitively there for 9 years and was given the opportunity to study and perform across the country, notably at the Orange Bowl in Miami. She also instructed dancers ages 8 – 14 for four years during this time, discovering a passion for teaching dance and ultimately choreographing.
Sydney went on to study Chemical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University, where she also earned a minor degree in modern dance from Mather Dance Center. She was a recipient of the Creative Arts Achievement Award in Dance and the Brad Petot Award for Excellence in Dance, and had the privilege of performing works by Shannon Sterne and various MFA thesis candidates on the Mather dance stage. She moved to Boston in 2018 and currently works as a battery engineer at Form Energy Inc., and has been thrilled to find such a fantastic dance community here. She has performed with DanceWorks Boston for nine seasons, and is incredibly excited to be choreographing for the eighth time in season 26!
